EDGE Design Delivers New Mentor Graphics Web Site Design And Architecture

Redesign provides framework and extensibility for internationalization and upgrades

PORTLAND, Ore.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Feb. 17, 2005— Portland design firm EDGE Design has completed design and architecture work on the corporate Web site for Mentor Graphics (NASDAQ:MENT). The firm worked in partnership with Mentor's Web team to revamp the visual design, information architecture and navigation of the site. EDGE also provided a graphic style guide and page templates for Mentor to use in updating and extending the site.

Ron Fuller, Mentor Graphics Web development manager, said that the new site gives Mentor a flexible and creative platform that will serve the company for several years.

"EDGE's new design backs up the message that Mentor is the technology leader in electronic design automation (EDA) in a way that's bold and fresh while providing for future expansion," Fuller said.

EDGE Web designers and developers created a fresh, modern look for the site, while also making it faster and easier to use, navigate and search, according to Ty Montgomery, EDGE senior account manager.

"We created a visual design and architecture that offers a simpler view into a very complex array of products and services," Montgomery said. "What we're most proud of is that it meets Mentor's business objectives in a visually appealing, highly functional manner."

The design shifts the focus from products to customers, according to Montgomery.

"Customers expect to find things quickly in a Web site," Montgomery said. "To do that, especially in a site for a large, diversified, global technology company, you have to allow users to find their specialty right away, find what they want within that specialty and then deliver it quickly. In the new Mentor site, customers can get right to relevant content in one or two clicks."

EDGE's work capped an extensive Mentor Graphics project in which the Wilsonville-based EDA firm revised more than 6,000 pages of text and images. Mentor Graphics launched the redesigned site at www.mentor.com.

Fuller pointed out that an added bonus of the EDGE design is its flexibility for future updates.

"One of the things we really like about the EDGE design is its extensibility," Fuller said. "We can take virtually any content and place it into the design in a logical, pleasing way. This gives us a framework and extensibility for internationalization and site upgrades well into the future."
